  • I want to place an order for Nora Lighting 3" Adjustable Gimbal Ring Low Voltage Trim - NL-3365. The ceiling is currently open and I can install either new construction NL-301Q or insulation NLIC-301Q housing units. The distance from the dropped ceiling where the lights would reside to the insulation between the floor joists is 13 inches. Is the new construction unit fine in this application? As you know, it's a little cheaper.

    You should be able to use the Nora Lighting NL-301Q. I don't believe the IC rated recessed can NLIC-301Q is necessary since you have alot of clearance for the heat to dissipate.
