This Nora Lighting floating socket is designed for new construction and IC applications. It is an air tight design, meaning it reduces the amount of air escaping through the ceiling and thus reducing energy costs. No ballast is required, as that is incorporated into the frame itself. This housing unit is rated for direct contact with thermal insulation, meets AT (air tight) standards and can be paired with a wide variety of trims.
