    Hello Barb, The manufacturer, Lite Source, advised that you will have to use at least one of the chain links provided, along with the circle loop that is attached to the trunk portion of the pendant. That would be the minimum that you can use. They advised not to cut the cord, but just to tuck it into the canopy.
