    Hello Peggy, This item comes with one 6" rod and three 12" rods. To make it approximately 36" you would only use the two 12" rods and the one 6" rod. Keep in mind the glass shade is 6.75" in height. That would make the total length 36.75" http://www.arcadianlighting.com/kr-91458-rb.html
