    • LED light retrofit

      The new LED lighting has added improved lighting over the old flood lights. I am very pleased with the results, areas that were not adequately lighted are now well lit. The look of the new light is also an improvement. The retrofit is fairly easy but there is one major issue with fitting the light into the existing can. The springs that hold the light into the can are difficult to adjust so that they stay in properly. The spring tension is way to stiff and the tabs that hold the springs have to be bent to fit the existing can as the fit both 5" and 6" cans. Some went in easy and others were very difficult to adjust. One spring broke and I had to make do with a spring from the old light I removed. I am afraid that if I have to pull them down to paint I will have a difficult time getting them back in place.The whole process was very frustrating. Also ther is no means to hold the old light socket that the LEd retrofit screws into so in addition to fighting with the spring adjustment you have to juggle the connection so it does not hang up the fixture sliding into place. A major design flaw that could have easily been avoided. Each can took from 10 to 30 minutes to install depending on adjusting the springs.
