How well does this feeder withstand the weather elements in midwest? This Cyan Design Tower Birdhouse - CN-02565 is really beautiful but it is made of birch-wood which is a soft wood unlike materials like redwood or even cedar which do withstand exterior conditions. Do you treat these birdhouses for these exterior conditions? If not, it will degrade in a couple of years unless I treat it with preservatives myself. I just need to know what I'm buying.Jul 05, 2010
As per Cyan Design (the manufacturer), item 02565 is a "decorative bird house". It is made of birchwood and has no type of sealant or finish coat on it. It is simply raw birchwood. You would have to make the determination but my feelings are that it would be fine under a covered patio, but not out in the direct elements.Jul 09, 2010
