Please keep in mind that the manufacturer of the post lantern and the burial post are different and so their interpretations of finishes are also different. I am not sure why manufacturers in general do not make same exact finishes in post lights and lamp poles? They do however, recommend black poles with almost every post light. The rust finish by Craftmade is darker than the finish of the Vaxcel light. I think that you would be better off going with a Bronze as it appears dark but will contrast the light as opposed to not matching, or you can go with a black finish as I see that is how Vaxcel pictured the outdoor post light.Nov 29, 2008

The two will fit because the Vaxcel lantern sits on any stranded 3" post or pier mount, but the finish may not match because each manufacturers' finishes are very different.Jan 22, 2009
