Traditional Bathroom Lighting

Design Tips:

  • Don’t be afraid to decorate with traditional bathroom lighting as these complement a wide selection of interior styles.
  • Choose a traditional bathroom light with hardware in a finish that complements the other fixtures in your bathroom, such as the sink’s faucet.
  • Opt to decorate with two different kinds of traditional bathroom lights from the same family, such as wall sconces and a pendant light with the same design.
The traditional style encompasses a broad range of styles. However, the traditional style has elements that include, but are not limited to, Old World craftsmanship, dark-stained finishes, ornamental fretwork, gracefully flowing scrollwork, sweeping arms, leaf details with gold or silver hightlights, glistening crystal drops and the use of materials such as brass and wrought iron. Traditional bathroom lights add a touch of elegance and sophistication to your design. You’ll definitely notice the distinct style of traditional bathroom lighting.

Styles

Traditional bathroom lighting is available in a multitude of designs and finishes. Some traditional bathroom lights have one to as many as 12 lights, and some may be mounted up or down. You’ll find lights with brushed nickel, chrome, oiled bronze, brushed steel or hammered ore finishes and with tea-stained glass, alabaster glass, opal glass or frosted glass shades. The shapes of the shades are also as varied as the selection of the types of finishes and shades that are available.

Applications

Traditional bathroom lighting may be used in a variety of applications. It’s generally installed in the bathroom as task lighting in addition to general lighting. One way to decorate with a traditional bathroom light is to place one above a mirror directly over the sink. This provides you with extra light to perform daily tasks such as washing your face, brushing your teeth or applying makeup. Sometimes traditional bathroom lights are placed on each side of a bathroom mirror for the same purpose.

Brands

Choosing traditional bathroom lighting doesn’t have to be a difficult task. Arcadian Home provides you with exceptional choices from only the best manufacturers of elagant traditional bathroom lights, including Golden Lighting, AF Lighting, Murray Feiss, Craftmade, Designers Fountain, and Access Lighting.

The photograph on the left of the Hubbardton Forge Scroll Traditional Bathroom / Vanity Light is a great example of how this traditional-style light fixture may be used. Notice how this three-light fixture, with its back plate, horizontal bar, gently scrolled arms and bell-shaped shades, hangs above the mirror. It is installed at just the right height as to provide just the right amount of task lighting over the sink for everyday activities that you perform in your bathroom, such as brushing your teeth, applying or removing makeup and shaving. Furthermore, you can’t help but notice how the finish of the frame’s hardware nicely complements the finish of the sink’s faucet. It’s an attractive and functional, traditional bathroom light that perfectly matches the bathroom’s traditional style.

New Customer Review

Horrible quality

The outer arms on this light was loose so when you added the globes they sagged down. Took down light to tighten arms on the back of it and the washers were cheap aluminum and would not tighten. They just bent in more and the arms stayed loose. This was a very poor quality light. Sent back and reordered another light from another manufacturer. I am an industrial electrician so this should have been a very easy install.
