Tiffany Chandeliers

Design Tips:

  • Select wall colors and upholstery colors that coordinate with the stain glass in a Tiffany style chandelier. Paint color is easier and cheaper to change than lighting.
  • Tiffany style stained glass looks best with low wattage lamping to create a soft glow. Stained glass chandeliers and lamps are best for ambient lighting. Mini pendants can be used for task lighting.
  • Variation in stained glass is part of the character. Embrace subtle flaws and variation in color as part of the charm of art glass lighting.
Tiffany chandeliers are named after the American glass designer Louis C. Tiffany. Tiffany lighting, including chandeliers and ceiling lights, covers designs inspired by Tiffany as well as other Arts & Crafts designers and artisans like Frank Llyod Wright. Arts & Crafts, Mission, Prairie School and other late 19th and early 20th century art glass styles make up our collection of Tiffany chandeliers. These fixtures have stained glass or mica shades combined with the look of hand-forged metals for the look of antique hand-crafted lighting.

The styles of Tiffany chandeliers are inspired by natural colors, shapes and motifs. Earth tones and other colors found in nature decorate glass shades in organic and geometric patterns. Tiffany chandeliers are all about the glass shades. The overall designs of these chandeliers harmoniously combine metalwork arms and balusters with delicate glass shades. Rich bronze and patinaed copper are common choice of metals. Tiffany chandeliers come in both uplights and downlights as well as large bowl shapes.

Tiffany chandeliers originally were crafted for Craftsman and Mission style homes. These homes feature rich wood tones on the floors, furniture and moldings, giving the rooms a deep, warm color scheme. Today Tiffany chandeliers can be found in many different style homes, offices, libraries and restaurants. The beautiful, colorful glass is the hallmark of these chandeliers. The colorful shades create a warm glow, bathing the room in color as well as light.

The collection of Tiffany chandeliers offered on Arcadian Home come from the top designers and manufacturers of lighting. These include: Dale Tiffany, Kichler Lighting, and Meyda Tiffany as well as many more. You may also want to browse our ceiling lights section for more lighting ideas.

Named for the American glass artist and designer, Louis Comfort Tiffany, Tiffany chandeliers are individual works of art. Sometimes called Arts & Crafts or Mission style, Tiffany chandeliers are known for their beautiful glass shades as seen in this open kitchen and dining room. Tiffany glass shades feature stained glass in organic or geometric patterns. Tiffany chandeliers are instantly recognizable for their style and craftsmanship.
The Tiffany chandeliers in this kitchen have warm honey colored glass that recalls mica shades of the Arts & Crafts movement. Combined with the warm tones of the stained glass on the uprights, these glass chandeliers bathe the kitchen in warm light. These Tiffany chandeliers could be put on a dimmer switch to create both ambient and task lighting above the island and dining table. Dark metal, often bronze or copper, accents the warm tones of the colorful glass in these chandeliers. Natural stone counters, warm toned walls and other organic elements complement the beauty of these Tiffany chandeliers.

Q & A of the Day

  • I am very interested in ordering this Meyda Tiffany Diamond Garland 6 Light Chandelier - MD-52044, but I need to know what the over-all color of the glass is. It looks mainly pink in the photo, but is the other shade I see more blue or green? I realize it is opaline-like and multi-colored, but I am looking for a more pinkish, greenish overall color.

Meyda Tiffany 52044 shades are more of an iridescent purple (greens, pinks, yellows & purples) when the light is off. When the light is on, it looks pretty much like overall purple stain glass. As you may know these are hand crafted artisan glass products so each one is going to be different and there are non that are identical or have more of one color than another. These are all unique one of a kind pieces.
