Q & A of the Day

  • How many rows of the white housing 2700K 90+ CRI Unilume LED undercabinet lights would equal the brightness of a 60 watt Halogena bulb (mounted in a white cone-shaped down-facing shade) positioned 13" above the surface? The Unilumes would be mounted on the underside of natural finish maple cabinets 19 1/2" above a creamy white countertop (Silestone Yukon gloss finish) with matt finish multicolored slate and schist tile mosaic backsplash (Tile Shop's Sikar Multi).

Your answer depends on a couple of factors. Not all incandescent light bulbs or LED's are the same so the answer would depend on the type of bulb, brand, quality glass colors etc. That is getting a bit technical though, It sounds like what you are wanting to know is the lumens output (measurement of how much light is being radiated) vs. the wattage (energy being consumed). I found a very useful article, doing some research online, that states "The U.S. Department of Energy advises that consumers who want to replace a 60-watt bulb should look for an LED that produces close to 800 lumens". The Unilume produces 645 lumens per light and consumes 10.5W. The amount of lights that you will use really is a matter of personal preference but I hope this information gives you some idea of where to start.

New Customer Review

High quality design and construction - Perfect Solution

We purchased this 20" drum light in white and brushed nickle for the dining area in our modernist urban loft. It came very well packed in foam rubber and arrived in perfect condition. The light is everything we expected - nice large size, refined modern design and well constructed. We puchased additional cord locally to install it as a swag from our 20 foot ceiling - using the brushed nickle swag hook purchased with the light. We also added a remote control dimmer which is perfect for changing the lighting level for dining, etc. The price of this light, while not inexpensive, is consistent with its quality and value.
