    Hello Dave, Sea Gull Lighting's tech support line advised that item SG-9858-15 indeed can be used outdoors it is rated for wet locations/12V applications.

Nice Product - poor OEM QC

I ordered 3 units which were on back order. Received only 2 units in a first shipment, the product was packaged fine but found that the mounting plate provided had the standoffs bent in opposite direction. This was the case for both units. Replacements were sent by Arcadian, plus another just to make sure that that if the third unit once received had the same issue. The third unit arrived exhibiting the same mounting plate issue with the added problem of not fully assembling the light socket to the internal fixture mounting arm. The finished product met my expectations, but lacked heavily in OEM QC that would have mitigated these fabrication issues.
