LED Under Cabinet Lighting

Design Tips:

  • LED under cabinet lights use less electricity, making them an energy efficient and green lighting choice.
  • A strip of LED under cabinet lights will create a broad swath of light. Puck lights will create small spot lights.
  • LED tape lights can be used as LED under cabinet lights if there is an edge to the shelf or cabinet to conceal the lights.
Our collection of under cabinet lighting features a variety of styles, shapes, sizes and lamping options to create the perfect under cabinet or cove lighting for residential and commercial lighting designs. LED under cabinet puck lighting is an easy, energy efficient way to add lighting to kitchens, laundry rooms, offices and more interior spaces that need a boost of light underneath cabinets or shelves. Our LED under cabinet lights can be used anywhere under cabinet lights are desired, including under shelves and in display or china cabinets as well as in bookcases and built-in furniture in home offices. LED lights allows these under cabinet lights to be small and discreet, virtually disappearing to let the light be the focus.

Among many the styles of under cabinet lighting in our collection is LED under cabinet lighting. LED undercabinet lighting can also be found in our selection of under cabinet puck lighting. Our LED under cabinet lighting comes in a variety of styles, finishes, shapes and sizes. From mini puck lights to narrow strips of LED tape lights, LED undercabinet lighting offers a range of sizes and shapes. Finishes include bronze, black, brushed steel, nickel and white. LED lights can be neatly tucked under the cabinet or shelf edge, making them invisible, or visible, stylish puck lights.

LED under cabinet lighting like any lighting that uses LED technology is a energy efficient and green way to illuminate a residential or commercial space. In residential applications, LED under cabinet lighting can be used as a source of indirect lighting in kitchens, home offices, finished basements, bars, bedrooms and pantries as well as task lighting for surfaces under the cabinets, including counters. LED under cabinet lighting can be used below cabinets, as in a kitchen application, or underneath shelves in an office. Professional spaces like offices, cubicles, medical offices, and commercial interior such as stores, restaurants and bars can all use LED under cabinet lighting for ambient or task lighting.

Q & A of the Day

  • How many rows of the white housing 2700K 90+ CRI Unilume LED undercabinet lights would equal the brightness of a 60 watt Halogena bulb (mounted in a white cone-shaped down-facing shade) positioned 13" above the surface? The Unilumes would be mounted on the underside of natural finish maple cabinets 19 1/2" above a creamy white countertop (Silestone Yukon gloss finish) with matt finish multicolored slate and schist tile mosaic backsplash (Tile Shop's Sikar Multi).

Your answer depends on a couple of factors. Not all incandescent light bulbs or LED's are the same so the answer would depend on the type of bulb, brand, quality glass colors etc. That is getting a bit technical though, It sounds like what you are wanting to know is the lumens output (measurement of how much light is being radiated) vs. the wattage (energy being consumed). I found a very useful article, doing some research online, that states "The U.S. Department of Energy advises that consumers who want to replace a 60-watt bulb should look for an LED that produces close to 800 lumens". The Unilume produces 645 lumens per light and consumes 10.5W. The amount of lights that you will use really is a matter of personal preference but I hope this information gives you some idea of where to start.

Great set of lights

I have a family room that needed 56 feet of lighting to sit behind my crown was an odd # of feet and we had to make 4-90degree turns. This lighting was very bendable and sat behind the crown very nicely. It also was easy to bend back the extra 4 feet. The lighting is very consistent, my only complaint would be the color. I ordered "warm white" and based on other LED lighting colors I have seen, this seems to lend itself a little more to being "cool white." That matter aside, the lighting adds a lovely feature to our roomm and I would definitely recommend it!
