A ceiling light is just one of many different types of lighting fixtures. Ceiling lights come in a wide variety of shapes, forms and sizes. Furthermore, different kinds of ceiling lights are used for various applications, including ambient, task or accent lighting. These kinds of fixtures are made to be used for indoor or outdoor purposes, however, one thing that ceiling lights have in common is that all function to provide you with light in most any space, from bedrooms to bathrooms and kitchens and dining rooms.
With the production of the incandescent light bulb, the manufacturing of fixtures soon followed. Ceiling lights are a fixed-type fixture, which are either flush mount or semi-flush mount. A flush mount ceiling lights is installed flush with the surface of the ceiling, and a semi-flush mount ceiling light suspends from the ceiling with a chain or pipe. One type of fixed ceiling light is a recessed light, which is also known as a down light when it’s mounted on the ceiling. An example of a recessed light fixture is cove lighting, which is installed into the ceiling in a box against a wall. Other examples of ceiling lights include chandeliers , pendant lights, spot lights, inverted pendant lights, and hanging lights .

  • Is the ht of 59" from ceiling to bottom of light? Is distance between ceiling to lights adjustable? How does this connect @ ceiling? Is distance from ceiling to fixture adjustable via chain, etc?

    The light has telescoping rods which means that they are adjustable. The 59" measurement is an overall length and includes the canopy (ceiling plate) to the bottom of the shades.

Quoizel Lighting

We purchased a Quoizel KY540ib ceiling light. Nice stylish design but despite its higher price is a very poorly made in China product. From linear scratches on the shades to being asymmetrical with generally poor construction. When the item was returned to Quoizel their reps said it looked okay - guess it was their standard quality. The second fixture was more symmetrical but the same poor construction and scratched shades. Next time we will stick with products made in America and not just designed here. Arcadian customer service was attentive and did what they could.
