Bathroom Light Bars

Design Tips:

  • Flatter skin tones and keep your skin from looking gray by selecting a bathroom light bar with yellow-toned bulbs or changing the original bulbs with ones of this color.
  • Ideally, a bathroom light bar should be installed evenly over the vanity and be at least 24 inches long. This allows the light to spread evenly over your face while looking at the mirror and performing tasks, such as applying makeup or shaving.
  • As with other fixtures in your home, choose a bathroom light bar in a design and finish that matches with the style of your bathroom.
Bathroom light bars are a series of small bulbs that are generally mounted on a horizontally elongated frame. A bathroom light bar is commonly installed above the sink and over the bathroom mirror. If you have a larger bathroom, it is common to have more than one light bar installed side-by-side and over each sink. Bathroom light bars are a type of light fixture that provides task lighting in addition to general illumination. In other words, bathroom light bars are extra lights in your bathroom that provide just the right amount of light needed for doing things such as brushing your teeth, combing your hair, shaving and putting on or taking off your makeup.

Styles

Bathroom light bars are available in a wide range of styles and in a variety of finishes. Some styles include those with up lights, down lights or simple light bulbs and have shades with marbleized, frosted or translucent glass. Bathroom light bars may have a traditional or contemporary design, and may have three to up to 12 lights. Finishes range from chrome, polished brass, brushed nickel, oiled bronze to vintage bronze.

Applications

Effortlessly decorate most any bathroom with a bathroom light bar. Since these are available in a wide range of sizes, even the smallest bathroom may have a bathroom light bar, such as one with just three lights, hang above a mirror. If you have a larger bathroom, it is common to have more than one bathroom light bar installed side-by-side, such as over each sink. Moreover, a bathroom light bar may be installed in addition to other task lights, like wall sconces that flank a mirror.

Q & A of the Day

  • Hello Can this light be hung the other direction, lights down? Thanks
    Barbara Feb 24, 2012
Hello Barbara, The SG-4725-05 can only be hung with the glass globes facing upward. If you hang them face down it will over heat the socket and will short the entire light.

New Customer Review

Poor Quality

I was very disappointed with this product. I would have gladly paid up for a quality product. The cover is very flimsy and bows so it doesn't fit tight against the wall. When I find one better, this one will be replaced.
