I am a bit unsure of what transformer to purchase to use with the CSL Lighting 34” ABEO Xenon Under Cabinet Light – CSL-XE-34 and CSL Lighting 22” ABEO Xenon Under Cabinet Light – CSL-XE-22. I want to place a 22″ 2 bulb by itself on one side of sink, 2 34″ 5 bulbs linked in a corner, and one 10″ by itself on the opposite side of the range. It is my understanding that the 12v system is recommended for anything other than the longest strips. There are 3 different types of transformers, and multiple different wattage. Do you wire one connection to the transformer and then wire from light to light, or do you run 3 separate wires from one transformer?
Answer: It all depends on the wattage of lamp you plan to use in the Abeo under cabinet lighting from CSL Lighting (the manufacturer). If you are using 5 watt 12v lamps in all the fixtures it will total 70 watts and can use a 12v electronic transformer not to exceed 150 watts. Suggested transformer CSL Lighting ABEO Xenon 150W 12V Electrical Transformer – CSL-T-13ENCL or CSL Lighting ABEO Xenon 300W 12V E.I Laminated Magnetic Transformer – CSL-T-120
Same transformer, if you are using 10 watt 12v lamps in all the fixtures it will total 140 watts and can use a 12v electronic transformer not to exceed 150 watts.
If you are using 20 watt 24v lamps in all the fixtures it will total 280 watts and will require you use a 24v magnetic transformer not to exceed 300 watts. You can use CSL Lighting ABEO Xenon 300W 12V Electrical Transformer – CSL-T-15ENCL or CSL Lighting ABEO Xenon 300W 24V Toroidal Magnetic Transformer – CSL-T-125
These fixtures can be “daisy chained” together and if using an electrician will know the best way to do this. Please note also that we might suggest you use 8 or 10 gauge wire for the longer runs to insure no voltage drop issues if you choose to use 12v. When using 24v with a magnetic transformer there will be no voltage drop possibilities. Installation instructions do accompany all of their products.
