Fun & Budget-Friendly Mother’s Day Finds

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

With Mother’s Day just a few weeks away, we thought you might be interested in the origin and history of where this nationwide holiday even began. The traditional practice of Mother’s day began as an ancient and spiritual rite that celebrated Goddesses and mothers rather than actual mothers. Female symbols of worship were praised at this time. It is still a rather new tradition that human mothers are celebrated. Since then, the first Mother’s day was proclaimed in 1870  by Julia Ward Howe who wanted to celebrate motherhood when she saw the horrific Civil War.

Ever since then, America has placed great emphasis on celebrating Mother’s Day in a variety of ways. Today, we’d love to show you some great ways to show your own mother your appreciation and love with fantastic and affordable gifts just in time for the special day.

Going Global with Your Interior

Thursday, July 12th, 2012

Global spaces is quickly becoming a rising trend in fashion and decor. Unique inspired patterns and artifacts make this style one to remember. The best part about global decor is the history behind it.

Global Spaces

Global style can be subtle and still be gorgeous. A Chinese table with the table lamps set the global tone in this foyer. The art photograph of a portico adds another element of global style.

Global Spaces

This gorgeous bedroom is filled with global style furnishings and accessories. An antique Chinese style bed layered with global textiles creates an eclectic style.

Global Spaces

Color and bold global patterns mix in this room with global furniture to create a gorgeous space. The bold Ikat pattern creates a colorful frame for the windows.

Global Spaces

This library has a worldly traveler aesthetic that brings in global style in art, textiles and wall coverings. Putting a rug on the wall feels very 19th century bohemian.

Global Spaces

Gorgeous global style in this room is achieved with small accessories that invoke a feeling of world travel. An African mask and stool (under the console) add global style that feels eclectic rather than thematic. The pendant light is stunning and perfectly suited to this space.

Global Spaces

Global textiles turn a white room and sofa into a gorgeous global space. The layers of color and pattern, silks, cottons and wools work together to create chic, global style.

Global Spaces

Gorgeous textiles make a global statement in this living room. The framed textile on the wall makes for unique and original art. Pillows and a rug add color and texture as well as global style.

Global Spaces

A Suzani fabric from Turkey covers the table, African stools form the coffee table, and a Kilim carpet centers the room in this contemporary global space. Tons of color and texture are gorgeous, as are the imaginative floor lamps chosen for this room?

What do you think of these global interior designs? Comments are welcome! Images  1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |

Finding Home Accessories for Contemporary Decor

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Few people are ready or able to hire a professional interior designer to pick out all the perfect home accessories and home decor for their space. This leaves people to pick out their own home accessories and decor, which can quickly become a daunting task if they’re not sure what to look for. Sure, they might know what style they’d like to use, such as contemporary, but that doesn’t mean they know which home accessories fit a particular style and which ones don’t.
