With this system:

• You don’t have to worry about where to put the transformer, because there is none.
• You don’t have to worry about having too long a rail design, or a voltage drop, because you can design this system to go as for as you like without a voltage drop.
• You don’t have to worry about maxing out your system at 300 watts, because this system is U.L. approved and can accommodate over 1900 watts.

• To design a Nora Rail System you must be mindful of four important areas:
  • LENGTH/SHAPE
  • SUSPENSION
  • FIXTURES
  • POWER
• When you order your system remember you need the RAIL, a means to suspend it; fixtures to hang from it, and a way to power it.
• Note: The RAIL is currently only available in a Silver finish. Tentatively, at the end of the first quarter 2005, we will also have the entire RAIL system in a dark Bronze finish.

LENGTH/SHAPE

• Unlike low voltage systems the Nora rail is line voltage (120volt); it has no distance restriction, or significant voltage drop. It can be circular bent to a 25″ diameter, or angular bent to 25 degree.
  • Is your RAIL design going to be straight or curved?
  • If the RAIL is going to be straight what will the total distance be?
  • If you design incorporates curves and/or bends please ensure you factor both your total distance, and all of the curves/bends, when determining your total RAIL footage.

• RAIL SIZES – There are three different lengths either in Silver or Bronze finish:
  • NRS90-P04   4ft. RAIL in silver, bronze or brushed nickel
  • NRS90-P06   6ft. 6in. RAIL in silver, bronze or brushed nickel
  • NRS90-P08   8ft. RAIL in silver, bronze or brushed nickel

• RAIL to RAIL CONNECTORS - There are four different ways to connect the Rails together for longer runs:
  • NRS90-P81   Live Rail connector (rigid) - connects and conducts power between two rails.
  • NRS90-N89   Dead Rail connector (rigid) - will connect two rails together, but will not conduct the power between them. This connector allows the two rails being connected to be powered by two different sources.
  • NRS90-P85   Live Flexible Accordion Rail connector (91/2″ long) – When placed between two rails it will allow sharp angular turns while conducting power.
  • NRS90-P82   Live Cable Rail connector (20″ long) – used to connect two rails together which are at different heights, or to jump around corners, or to go over a beam, while conducting power.

• RAIL BENDER - the rail can be bent manually, but for best results it is recommended to utilize the rail bending devise to create your custom design.
  • NRS90-N33   Rail Bending Devise – firmly attaches to a hard surface by an adjustable clamp. The Rail is passed through adjustable wheels that are pushed together to slowly curve the Rail by pressure.

SUSPENSION

• The RAIL can be suspended from the ceiling (flat, vaulted, or drop) by rigid stems or by aircraft cable. It can also be mounted to a vertical wall. It is recommended to place your support stems, or cables, every 21/2 feet on the system, or whatever you have applied a lot of fixture weight.

• FLAT CEILING RIGID SUPPORT STEMS - to secure the rail to standard flat ceilings:
  • NRS90-N14 - 4″ silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings.
  • NRS90-N17 - 71/2″ to 11 1/2″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings.

• SLOPED OR FLAT CEILING SUPPORT STEMS - to secure the rail to sloped ceiling (45 degree or 12/12 pitch max with locking screw), or a flat ceiling.
  • NRS90-N74 - 4″ silver ceiling connector for sloped or flat ceilings.
  • NRS90-N77 - 8 1/4″ to 11 1/2″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for sloped or flat ceilings.
  • NRS90-N70 - 12″ to 24″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for sloped or flat ceilings.
  • NRS90-N71 - 25 1/4″ to 48″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for sloped or flat ceilings.
  • NRS90-N72 - 49 3/4″ to 96″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for sloped or flat ceilings.

• VERTICLE WALL SUPPORT STEMS - to secure the rail to a vertical service.
  • NRS90-N18 - 5 1/2″ to 8 1/2″ telescopic silver connector, with extra support cable, for walls or vertical services.

• CABLE CONNECTORS - to secure the rail to a flat or sloped ceiling by steel aircraft cable.
  • NRS90-N91 - field adjustable cable from 1 to 10 feet in length.

• T-BAR CEILING ATTACHMENTS - must be used in conjunction with a support stem to attach the Rail to a standard T-bar drop ceiling.
  • NRS90-N21 - T-bar chip and cover assembly for 15/16″ tee (must be used with a ceiling connector).
  • NRS90-N22 - T-bar chip and cover assembly for 9/16″ tee (must be used with a ceiling connector).

FIXTURES/LUMINAIRES

They accommodate the lamps/bulbs that provide the light from the system, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and wattages depending on your design needs. You can put over 1900 watts on each system.

• TRACK HEADS - are mainly used for directional lighting; they are available in line voltage, or the new low voltage units.
• Line Voltage heads (120 volt) provided with either a 50watt MR16 GU10 bulb, or 40watt G9 bulb (please refer to our catalog, or price list, for various types of track heads offered, and specific bulb provided).
• Low Voltage heads (12 volt) incorporates a transformer within the unit. So you are using low voltage fixtures on a line voltage system. Due to the many variable provided by low voltage lamps/bulbs (beam spread, colors, size, etc.) NO BULBS ARE INCLUDED. The socket can accommodate 12 volt, 20-50watt MR16, MR11, G6.35 JC, or G4.0 JC lamps.

*All line voltage heads shown in our catalog are also available as low voltage heads.

• HIGH WATTAGE FIXTURE - because this system is Line Voltage, and does not utilize a transformer that would limit your wattage for entire system to 300watts, you can use individual fixtures with much higher wattage.
  • NRS17-301 - silver fixture providing a wall wash of light, or general lighting which can use a 150 watt to 300W R7S double ended Halogen bulb (300Watt lamp/bulb provided)

• PENDANTS - glass fixtures dropped from the rail, or from individual canopies, by adjustable power cord, minimum 8 1/2″ provided, in line or low voltage.
  • NRS19-450 - LINE VOLTAGE, RAIL MOUNTED 120V silver pendant cord assembly providing rail attachment, 8 1/2 adjustable cord, socket, and 40W G9 lamp/bulb with shield.

POWER

This is a line voltage system (120volt) so no transformer is needed between the power source and the Rail. Power can be conducted from your power source to the Rail system through different lengths of flexible power cable, or through a variety of hard stems that come in different length, some telescopic, and carry the conductive wires.

• CANOPY FOR POWER STEMS
  • NRS90-P13 - silver fits over power supply (J-Box), and attaches to the power stems.

• POWER STEMS FOR FLAT CEILINGS (only) - Provides 120V power to the Rail and must be used with an NRS90-P13S canopy to fit over the junction box. (Ensure your power stem is the same length as your support stems, or cable connectors.
  • NRS90-P14 - 4″ silver power connector for flat ceilings only. Must be used with NRS90-P13S.
  • NRS90-P17 - 7 1/2″ TO 11 1/2″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings only. Must be used with NRS90-P13S.
  • NRS90-PS87S – 12″ to 24″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings only. Must be used with NRS90-P13S.
  • NRS90-P88 - 25 1/4″ to 48″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings only. Must be used with NRS90-P13S.
  • NRS90-P89 - 49 3/4″ to 96″ telescopic silver ceiling connector for flat ceilings only. Must be used with NRS90-P13S.

• POWER CORDS WITH CANOPIES, FOR VARIOUS CEILINGS & WALLS - Provides 120 Volt power, by flexible cable, to the rail from a canopy. Use for vaulted ceilings, vertical attachment to walls, or areas where power supply and rail do not line up easily.
  • NRS90-P80 -Silver Rounded canopy with slide fitting adjustable 18″ flexible power cord that attaches to the Rail. (utilize for power supply only, and not for rail ceiling support)
  • NRS90-P90-Silver Round canopy with center fitting adjustable 10′ 6″ flexible power cord that attaches to the Rail. (utilize for power supply only, and not for Rail ceiling support)
  • NRS90-P91-Silver Round canopy with center fitting adjustable 10′ 6″ flexible power cord and adjoining adjustable support cable. Can’t be used as both power supply and ceiling support for rail. (looks good with NRS90-N91S – aircraft cable support).

• POWER CORD WITH GROUNDED PLUG - Provides 120V power to the Rail utilizing a 15ft. 20amp power cord, that derives it power through a standard three prong plug.
  • NRS90-P99 - Silver 15′ grounded power cord and plus with Rail Connector.

• Rail to Rail CONNECTORS FOR POWER - connects multiple rails together and will, or will not, conduct power between them, depending on your needs.
