If you follow trends in the home decor world, you’ve probably noticed that Moroccan and Moroccan inspired home accessories are all the rage right now. Global looks in general are especially hot for home accessories and decor. Of course, these styles aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a piece out there for you. Here’s the low down on Moroccan home decor and how to incorporate it into your space.
Moroccan Home Decor: Tips and Tricks

If you’re going for a Moroccan look for your entire space, you’ve probably gotten held up by finding the right furniture. This is especially true if you’re working on the living room, as it can be quite difficult to find the right Moroccan styled sofa for the space. However, fear not. With global influenced home decor, many people tend to mix contemporary furniture with global inspired pieces, so consider that for your starting point. A contemporary styled sofa can be paired with a Moroccan styled carved coffee table and side tables, which helps pull the look together.

You can further the Moroccan inspiration by loading up your sofa with tons of colorful Moroccan styled throw pillows and a throw blanket (or two). This will help add color and flair to your contemporary sofa, thus accentuating the Moroccan look.

Another way to incorporate the Moroccan look into your home decor is through the use of Moroccan inspired throw rugs. Rugs are a great way to bring color into the space and they can compliment the look of your contemporary furniture, whether it’s a contemporary styled bed frame or a contemporary sofa. Again, this helps solidify the Moroccan style in the room.

Of course, every good decorator knows that a few throw pillows and a rug won’t cut it when it comes to decorating your home. Home decor requires plenty of different items mixed together to create a specific look. With Moroccan inspired home decor, you do not necessarily have to use entirely Moroccan pieces, so keep this in mind.

You may even find that certain contemporary styled home accessories can compliment the Moroccan look. For example, hammered metal table decor is a great start. Look for hammered metal trays or bowls in a bronze hue or a silver hue, both of which will compliment Moroccan inspired home decor.

With wall art, things can get a bit trickier. In fact, you may need to search far and wide to find the right Moroccan inspired wall art for your home. Consider using mirrors, which are perfect no matter what style of home decor you are working with. Look for mirrors that feature frames that are reminiscent of Moroccan style, you’d be surprised to know that these are actually surprisingly easy to come by. Other options include painting your own canvases to match your particular color scheme or framing or wrapping some canvases with a Moroccan patterned fabric. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

There are thousands of different home decor styles, including French provincial. However, many people are left wondering exactly what this style is and what home accessories and decor best suit it. This guide will give you the low down on French provincial and help you find the right home accessories to match.
French Provincial Home Decor
To start, French provincial is a style that reflects how people’s homes were in the 1600s and 1700s in the provinces of France. Typically these people were not as well off as those who were living in cities and this style reflects that. With French provincial home decor, you see less ornate detailing and more focus gets put onto function and flow.
French Provincial Furnitures
To start, when choosing furnitures for this style, you’ll need to remember function over detailing. Since people in the French provinces had little money, they didn’t spend it on ornate or grand furniture. Instead, they focused what little money they had on pieces that served a purpose and wouldn’t cost them a small fortune.

Since they had less money, they found ways to reduce taxes. In France, many homes were taxed based on the number of rooms and the closet counted as a room. So, instead of having closets, people in the French provinces chose to build armoires and other large scale furnitures to hold their items. In modern home decor, you may not have a real use for an armoire but there are ways to incorporate one into your space. Consider using one for your television in the living room or for game storage in a family room or den.
Home Accessories for French Provincial Homes
Wall art is not something that you would have found in homes of that era. Wall decor meant spending money on unnecessary items. However, the people of this time did believe in purchasing wall mirrors for their space. Mirrors reflect light, making a space feel more open and airy and most importantly, could bring outdoor views indoors.

You can use mirrors of any size or shape: square mirrors, oval mirrors, gold framed mirrors or plain framed mirrors. This is one of the more flexible parts of French provincial home decor.
Another popular accent in French provincial home decor is items that are embroidered. In the 17th and 18th centuries, people didn’t have televisions or smartphones and found other ways to occupy any little free time they had. For women, this often meant working on embroidering. You can incorporate embroidered pillows, curtains, blankets, towels and other items into the various rooms of your home if you choose this particular style.

Of course, keep in mind that you are incorporating an “old” style of decor into a modern home; so don’t be afraid to put your own modern twist on things. Monogramming over floral embroidering, hand carved furnitures with not-as-ornate details painted a bold hue such as pink or reupholstered in a vibrant, funky pattern and so forth. Interior design and home decor is about interpretation, and like any art form, it is not set in stone!
We hope you enjoyed this beautiful post! If you’re interested in decorating in French provincial style, why not start off with adding some oval mirrors and more to your home!

There are many ways to add some spark to your home design. You can change your interior design or even incorporate new home accessories and décor. But you don’t have to keep all of your favorite design ideas indoors. Adding outdoor décor items to your garden space, porch or yard is the perfect way to showcase your favorite home décor. With the right outdoors décor, you can increase your homes curb appeal and increase your home’s value. Use these garden décor ideas for some inspiration to creating the ultimate outdoor space.
Pottery

One of the most common ways to add a touch of décor to your home’s exterior is by adding a few pots. Terra cotta and other neutral toned ceramics are commonly used to show off plantings and flowers. But pottery can be used in many other ways. Great outside home accessories like pottery can be just the thing to store outdoor items from view. From compost to garden hoses, pottery can be used to attractively store everyday outdoor items with ease and style.
Candles

When the sun begins to set and your porch, patio or deck is where you want to be, candles can really help to set off the mood. Unlike bright and direct porch lighting, it’s subtle enough to keep things mellow, but bright enough to still allow you to see when it’s dark. Candles are the perfect table décor for your deck and create an ambience even in the daytime when placed in attractive candle holders. Best of all, some candles are made to distract or repel mosquitos and other biting flies. Citronella candles smell nice to humans, but smell awful to mosquitos.
Furniture

What outdoor space is complete without the right furniture’s and accessories? It’s a good idea to set up at least a table and a few patio chairs for guests who enter your yard, garden or porch. Outdoor furniture is also the perfect addition to any outdoor room. Couches, porch swings and love seats can all be bought in waterproof fabrics. With so many new outdoor furniture products coming out each day, it’s easy to find an affordable and long lasting set of outdoor furniture that’s perfect for your outdoor décor design.
Rugs

When decks, patios, sidewalks and porches are covered with wood or concrete, they can be boring and bland at best. Dress up your outdoor space with a cool throw rug. Be sure to choose a throw rug that is suitable for outdoor use. Some natural fibers like cotton should be avoided. Hemp and jute are great alternative natural fibers that look fabulous and can last for years outdoors. Outdoor rugs can also be made from synthetic fibers that can last for a lifetime for the perfect outdoor home décor. [ Images 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 ]

Of all the rooms in your home, a foyer or entryway is typically among the most difficult to decorate. You find yourself stumped when looking at home accessories and decor. You’re not sure what home accessories are appropriate to use, where or how to use them in a foyer. However, it’s important to have a well decorated foyer, as it is the entryway to your home and it sets the tone for the rest of your home decor.
Rug
Since the entryway is exactly that: an entryway, it’s important to have a rug. Give your guests a place to wipe their feet and place their shoes before entering your home. However, stay away from lighter colors and prints. Opt for patterns or colors that will hide dirt well.

Also, be sure to choose something that can be easily washed on a regular basis, as you’ll need to do this. It is an entryway, after all. Don’t forget to place a rug pad underneath to help hold the rug in place. After all, you don’t want your guests to slip!
Bench

A Creative Beginning via
A bench is a great option for decorating a foyer. It gives your guests a place to sit when they put on or take off their shoes. Depending on the style, you can find a bench to match your home decor. Benches come in contemporary styles, modern styles, Moroccan styles, mid century modern styles, and many, many more.
Mirror
A mirror is almost an essential for an entryway. Mirrors help to create a welcoming, bright space. Choose an oval mirror for a chic space or a large, rectangular mirror for a modern or traditional space.

Wall Art
If you’ve got a beloved piece of wall decor, such as an antique painting or a sculpture, the foyer is a great place to put it. By placing these items in this area of your home, you guarantee that they’ll get seen often by you and your guests. This is a great option, especially if the wall decor you’ve chosen makes you happy or is inspiring.

Home Accessories for Foyers
Fresh flowers, potpourri and candles are all a great choice for entryway home accessories. Not only are these items visually appealing, but they can help freshen up the room. Nothing is worse than coming home to a house that smells! It can also be extremely embarrassing for guests to enter a home that has a funky odor and this is especially true if you have pets.
Choose your floral arrangements based on your space rather than just on color. For example, if you have a foyer with tall ceilings or one that is open to the upstairs area, then use tall flowers like orchids or gladiolas. If you have a smaller foyer, use smaller flowers such as potted pansies or mums.

Lastly, look at the foyer as an opportunity to display your family and their interests or personalities. You could include home accessories such as family portraits or perhaps some wall art that is made by your children or grandchildren.

When people think of home accessories and decor, they tend to think of vases, wall clocks, oval mirrors, wall art and charger plates. However, one of the most commonly overlooked type of home decor is the floor rug. A floor rug can pull a room together, or it can inspire the room entirely. So when you’re choosing your home accessories, don’t forget to pick out the right floor rug. There are a vast number of benefits to having a good rug!
Protecting Your Investment
When you purchase a floor rug, whether it be high quality or even an inexpensive variety, you’re protecting your floors from additional unnecessary wear and tear. If you have children or pets, this can greatly extend the life of the flooring in your home. A rug can also be extremely important if you have hardwood floors or certain types of stone flooring, as a rug can protect cracks or scratches from various types of furniture.

Thermal Resistance
Aside from completing your home decor, rugs can help your home retain heat in the winter and cool air in the summer. This is because rugs provide additional thermal resistance. This is especially important for people who are looking to be more eco-friendly.
Noise Reduction
In the modern home, there are a number of things going on: coffee pots brewing, televisions blaring, stereos, vacuums and so forth. Throw in children, pets or a loud-walking spouse and it can be downright noisy.
Rugs can help absorb some of this noise, making the house a little quieter. They can also help create sound barriers between floors. This can be especially beneficial if there is a child play room, a teenager’s hang-out or a man cave in the basement of your home.

Comfort
A good floor rug can also create a more comfortable room. Imagine you have stone floors or hardwood floors, it’s 3 a.m. and you want a glass of water from the kitchen. Walking from the bedroom to the kitchen on hard, cold floors can be uncomfortable. A rug can change that and make the walk more comfortable.
In addition, floor rugs are ideal for small children to play on in comparison to hard floors. They are more comfortable to sit on if necessary, such as when playing with young children or having your teen’s friends over for a study group or movie night.

Of course, a rug can also benefit and protect small children if they happen to fall. This is especially true if you have youngsters learning to walk!
Tips for Choosing a Floor Rug
When choosing a floor rug, be sure to choose a high quality rug. If you have hardwood floors, laminate floors, vinyl floors and even certain types of stone floors, there is the possibility that cheap rugs with rubber backing could discolor the floor.

Also, it’s important to always purchase a rug pad for use between your rug and floor. Rug pads help hold your rug into place and provide additional cushioning. A rug pad will also extend the life of your rug, which of course, saves you even more money.
