When it comes to home accessories, furniture is key. The right furniture pulls the space together and can help create a home decor look that lasts for many years. In recent years, round tables have become all the rage. Fortunately, this style blends easily alongside many other home accessories and decor, making it an easy choice for any home.
Trendy Looks: Round Tables for the Living Room & Bedroom

When you think of tables, you often think of them as furniture for the dining room, a breakfast nook or perhaps an eat-in kitchen. However, these aren’t the only rooms in your home that can benefit from some trendy round tables. In the bedroom, you may want to consider using rounded night stands versus square or rectangular night stands.

If you’re worried about not having enough drawer or storage space, remember that even rounded night stands and side tables can be found that feature additional shelves and drawers for added storage space. These furniture pieces are great for keeping a bedside space more organized.

Of course, round tables aren’t just for the bedroom. In the living room, round side tables can give the room a more traditional or classic feel. They can also give a more modern feel, depending on the finish and overall style of the table. In fact, don’t be surprised to find that you’ll be able to find a round side table for just about any style of home decor.

Finally, round coffee tables are especially trendy this year and will likely to continue to be trendy. Round coffee tables and even round ottomans (which can double as a coffee table) are ideal for living room spaces. This shape of furniture is easy to walk around, they’re less of a hazard for children (no more worries of poking their eye out on the corner of the coffee table) and so forth.
Round Tables in the Dining Room

Of course, it also goes without saying that round tables look great in eat-in kitchens, dining rooms and breakfast nooks. This is especially true if you have a particularly small space to work with, as a round table doesn’t have those pesky corners that you have to work around. Again, much like with nightstands, side tables and coffee tables, you’ll find that dining tables, cafe tables and so forth all come in a variety of looks and styles. This makes it extremely easy to find the right round table for your space, so don’t give up right away. Check around at different furniture retailers or online retailers to find the right round table for your home decor.
So if you’re looking for a way to update the furniture in your home, consider a round table. These pieces are classic and stylish and you can use them for years to come. After all, furniture only comes in so many different shapes and styles, so chances are, it’ll come back into trend again. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

If you follow trends in the home decor world, you’ve probably noticed that Moroccan and Moroccan inspired home accessories are all the rage right now. Global looks in general are especially hot for home accessories and decor. Of course, these styles aren’t for everyone, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a piece out there for you. Here’s the low down on Moroccan home decor and how to incorporate it into your space.
Moroccan Home Decor: Tips and Tricks

If you’re going for a Moroccan look for your entire space, you’ve probably gotten held up by finding the right furniture. This is especially true if you’re working on the living room, as it can be quite difficult to find the right Moroccan styled sofa for the space. However, fear not. With global influenced home decor, many people tend to mix contemporary furniture with global inspired pieces, so consider that for your starting point. A contemporary styled sofa can be paired with a Moroccan styled carved coffee table and side tables, which helps pull the look together.

You can further the Moroccan inspiration by loading up your sofa with tons of colorful Moroccan styled throw pillows and a throw blanket (or two). This will help add color and flair to your contemporary sofa, thus accentuating the Moroccan look.

Another way to incorporate the Moroccan look into your home decor is through the use of Moroccan inspired throw rugs. Rugs are a great way to bring color into the space and they can compliment the look of your contemporary furniture, whether it’s a contemporary styled bed frame or a contemporary sofa. Again, this helps solidify the Moroccan style in the room.

Of course, every good decorator knows that a few throw pillows and a rug won’t cut it when it comes to decorating your home. Home decor requires plenty of different items mixed together to create a specific look. With Moroccan inspired home decor, you do not necessarily have to use entirely Moroccan pieces, so keep this in mind.

You may even find that certain contemporary styled home accessories can compliment the Moroccan look. For example, hammered metal table decor is a great start. Look for hammered metal trays or bowls in a bronze hue or a silver hue, both of which will compliment Moroccan inspired home decor.

With wall art, things can get a bit trickier. In fact, you may need to search far and wide to find the right Moroccan inspired wall art for your home. Consider using mirrors, which are perfect no matter what style of home decor you are working with. Look for mirrors that feature frames that are reminiscent of Moroccan style, you’d be surprised to know that these are actually surprisingly easy to come by. Other options include painting your own canvases to match your particular color scheme or framing or wrapping some canvases with a Moroccan patterned fabric. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

The dining room can be as troublesome as a fireplace mantel. It seems like it should be easy to decorate, but the right home accessories always seem to elude you. Accessorizing a dining room involves blending both home accessories and decor to create a look that represents you, your family and perhaps even the rest of your home. With so much pressure in a single room, it can become stressful creating a home decor look that’s the envy of all your guests.
Furniture

Always start with furnitures when decorating a dining room space. The type of dining table and chairs you choose will help to set the tone for the rest of the room. If you have the space, you may want to consider additional storage in the form of bookshelves, a console table or a buffet.

When choosing additional furnitures, such as the console table or buffet table, you don’t necessarily have to match the dining table and chairs. You can easily mix and match styles to create a look that is effortlessly chic. Mixing a contemporary dining set with a mid-century modern buffet table is a perfect example. On a side note, when mixing different types of wood furnitures together, try to match woods or feature start contrasts between the wood such as light red walnut and dark ebony woods.
Overall when choosing different furnitures for a single room such as the dining room, take scale, shape and texture into consideration over color or style; as this will help blend the pieces together in your space, creaming seamless home decor in your dining room that looks effortless.
Color Palette

With your dining room furnitures chosen, it’s time to decide on a color palette for your dining room. Since most dining room furnitures are neutral in color (wood tones or white) it is relatively easy to blend almost any color into the color palette for this space.
Great dining room colors could include warm hues such as red, orange or yellow and cooler hues such as blue or green. You can also opt for more neutral or natural shades such as beige, chocolate brown, moss green or ivory.
Home Accessories

Using your color palette and your chosen furnitures, you can now begin finding the right accessories for your dining room. Sometimes it helps to start from the top and work your way down to the little details, starting with wall art.
Just because it’s a dining room does not mean your wall decor needs to be food-themed. You can use any style of wall art in your room, just be sure to find artwork that blends into your chosen color scheme. The goal is to create a seamless, cohesive look. Even if your wall art only uses one teeny, tiny spot of your color palette, that will still make a difference in tying it all together.

Next, table decor can be seasonal or it can be year round, or it can even be updated on a whim whenever you please. Table decor should be low-key in terms of height, as you don’t want it to block your view of across the table. This makes conversation difficult. Instead, choose smaller (height-wise) displays or choose table decor that can be temporarily relocated when needed.
If you’ve opted for a buffet table, use this space to store your extra supplies: napkins, placements, napkin rings and so forth. A console table can be used for storing table decor temporarily, but if you’re looking for home accessories, keep in mind that the console table is a perfect place to display taller accessories. Lastly, finish up the room with a floor rug if desired and viola! Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

With home accessories and decor, style is everything. Certain home decor styles are going to start coming into their own during the 2012 year, so it’s worth noting what these styles are. This can also help you stay ahead of the curve when choosing new home accessories for your space. Here are a few of the expected trends for home decor in 2012.
Contemporary Chic

‘Contemporary Chic’ has slowly risen in the past few months and will continue to grow in popularity in 2012. Look for home accessories that feature clean lines and modern shapes, such as the drum shade. Other examples include large oval mirrors, mirror finished furniture, hammered metal vases and bowls, crystal spheres all of which can be combined with neutral color palettes paired with pops of color.
Industrial Chic

A year of the ‘chic’ styles, industrial chic is a style that combines the rusty gold of antique stops with clean, contemporary style. Look at this home decor style as an elegant, refined version of steam punk or industrial decor. It can include items mentioned in ‘contemporary chic’ as well as home accessories such as steel stools, recycled glass light fixtures, apothecary jars, mixed media wall art and more.
Vintage Farmhouse

This style may also be referred to as “vintage chic” or “farmhouse chic,” and includes worn, well loved pieces combined with modern conveniences. Examples could include cloche or bell jars, lace doilies, light fixtures that use old mason jars as glass shades and furniture that features hand carving and well worn, well-loved detailing.
Rustic Home Decor

Speaking of all these vintage styles, rustic home decor will also be making a comeback in 2012. Elegant rustic lodges with luxury items, shabby-chic-meets-rustic or cabin-in-the-woods rustic are all options; as this style can go a number of different ways.
Global Decor

Like many home decor styles, global decor is making the cycle around yet again for 2012. Expect to see plenty of global influences in various home styles, as global elements are easy to incorporate into existing design palettes. Hand carved home accessories and furniture, mosaic mirrors, Moroccan details and so forth.
Trendy Colors for 2012

A number of colors will also be trendy for 2012, but unlike other styles, colors are one of the easiest ways to incorporate a trend into your space without spending a ton of cash. Look for bright hues such as yellow, as well as the new neutral: gray.
It is important to keep in mind that when it comes to trends, less is more. It may be tempting to redecorate an entire space using trendy home accessories and decor, but it can result in a space that feels dated and dreary after just a few months. So keep this in mind, as you don’t want to waste money having to redecorate once your home decor trend has gone out-of-style. Images 1 | 2| 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

When it comes to home accessories and decor, there are a lot of items out there and thus, a lot of different patterns, colors and textures. In fact, it’s not unusual for a person to fall in love with two or more home accessories with different patterns or color schemes. That being said, home decor still needs to flow properly, even if multiple patterns are used. Here are a few tips and tricks on how to use multiple patterns in a single room.
Select a Scale

When you use multiple patterns on home decor, an easy way to blend these patterns together is by selecting patterns that feature the same scale. For example, if you have chosen a large pattern, you’ll want to choose other patterns that are also equally large in scale.
This can apply to curtains, furniture upholstery, throw pillows, rugs and so forth.
Add Solid Colors

Though you may love your patterns, it’s important to add a few pieces into the room that feature solid colors.
Solid colors can help break up the space visually, letting each pattern stand on its own rather than forcing the competing patterns to rely on one another.
Size on Size

Outside of choosing multiple patterns that are equal in size, another option that many interior designers use is the size on size concept. For example, if you choose a medium sized pattern, you should use it on a medium sized home accessory such as an ottoman or a throw blanket. On the other hand, with a small scale pattern, you’ll want that to be seen on a smaller item such as a throw pillow or a small piece of wall art.
Similar Styles or Color Schemes

Finally, another option also used by professionals is the use of patterns that feature similar color schemes or similar styles. This particular path may be more time consuming and may not be as easy to achieve, as it does take a professional eye to spot patterns that will mesh well; especially when you’re not focusing specifically on the pattern size.
Think Outside the Fabric

Patterns aren’t just found on different fabrics for upholstered furniture, drapery and other home accessories. It can also be found on a number of different items including wooden furniture facades, charger plates, frames for wall art, the wall art itself, and so forth.
Don’t Be Afraid to Mix and Match

The most important thing to remember when choosing different patterns is to not over-think things and allow yourself to mix and match different patterns. Home decor doesn’t have to be perfect, life isn’t a magazine! If you love two different fabrics but you think they don’t match, you may be surprised to find that chances are they really do and you’re simply over-thinking things. Most people are drawn to similar items, and that also applies to patterns in home accessories, so keep this in mind when you’re mixing and matching different patterns. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6

There are thousands of different home decor styles, including French provincial. However, many people are left wondering exactly what this style is and what home accessories and decor best suit it. This guide will give you the low down on French provincial and help you find the right home accessories to match.
French Provincial Home Decor
To start, French provincial is a style that reflects how people’s homes were in the 1600s and 1700s in the provinces of France. Typically these people were not as well off as those who were living in cities and this style reflects that. With French provincial home decor, you see less ornate detailing and more focus gets put onto function and flow.
French Provincial Furnitures
To start, when choosing furnitures for this style, you’ll need to remember function over detailing. Since people in the French provinces had little money, they didn’t spend it on ornate or grand furniture. Instead, they focused what little money they had on pieces that served a purpose and wouldn’t cost them a small fortune.

Since they had less money, they found ways to reduce taxes. In France, many homes were taxed based on the number of rooms and the closet counted as a room. So, instead of having closets, people in the French provinces chose to build armoires and other large scale furnitures to hold their items. In modern home decor, you may not have a real use for an armoire but there are ways to incorporate one into your space. Consider using one for your television in the living room or for game storage in a family room or den.
Home Accessories for French Provincial Homes
Wall art is not something that you would have found in homes of that era. Wall decor meant spending money on unnecessary items. However, the people of this time did believe in purchasing wall mirrors for their space. Mirrors reflect light, making a space feel more open and airy and most importantly, could bring outdoor views indoors.

You can use mirrors of any size or shape: square mirrors, oval mirrors, gold framed mirrors or plain framed mirrors. This is one of the more flexible parts of French provincial home decor.
Another popular accent in French provincial home decor is items that are embroidered. In the 17th and 18th centuries, people didn’t have televisions or smartphones and found other ways to occupy any little free time they had. For women, this often meant working on embroidering. You can incorporate embroidered pillows, curtains, blankets, towels and other items into the various rooms of your home if you choose this particular style.

Of course, keep in mind that you are incorporating an “old” style of decor into a modern home; so don’t be afraid to put your own modern twist on things. Monogramming over floral embroidering, hand carved furnitures with not-as-ornate details painted a bold hue such as pink or reupholstered in a vibrant, funky pattern and so forth. Interior design and home decor is about interpretation, and like any art form, it is not set in stone!
We hope you enjoyed this beautiful post! If you’re interested in decorating in French provincial style, why not start off with adding some oval mirrors and more to your home!

Whether it’s a furry companion or a scaly friend, people everywhere are trying to find ways for pets and home decorto peacefully co-exist. It’s not unusual for people to feel that they can’t have a beautiful home and have a dog at the same time, or to purchase high quality furnitures without having it ruined by a feline friend, or to have glass home accessories that are knocked over and shattered with the wag of a tail. When it comes to home accessories and decor, it’s easy to find balance between pets and home decor.
Vacuum, Vacuum, Vacuum

The biggest rule of home decor and pets is that you absolutely must vacuum regularly. It’s a trade off, as it can be time consuming if you have a large home. If you’ve got two or more pets, you should be vacuuming at least twice a week to keep pet hair under control. If your pets are long-haired, you may need to vacuum every other day. Pet hair is visually unsettling for many people, so keeping it under control is important if you want your home to remain clean and beautiful.
Grooming

Another big issue, particularly if you have long-haired animals, is that you must groom them regularly. Whether you groom them yourself or take them to a professional, regular grooming cuts down on shedding, which can make vacuuming easier and of course, helps to keep your home looking clean and pristine.Stain Resistant Fabric, Carpet and Flooring

With pets come stains. So, when choosing upholstery for your furnituresand flooring items, look for options that are stain resistant. This will help keep your home decor in good shape. When an accident does happen, be sure to clean it up immediately. It’s no fun to clean out a dried hair-ball from the carpet.Speaking of carpet, if you can afford it, consider opting for another flooring option. Carpets hold on to pet hair, stains and even worse, pet odors. If you can, choose hardwood floors and pair it with a nice throw rug instead to cut down on this.Match Your Pets and Decor

It may sound silly, but consider mixing and matching colors that compliment your pet. For example, if you’ve got a black-furred canine or feline, pair it with black upholstered furnitures. This will cut down on the visual appearance of fur. This same concept applies to walls. Don’t choose white paint when you have a large, messy labrador in the home. One bath time later and your walls will be dingy, dirty and gross.Speaking of paint, choose high gloss paints, which wipe down easily. That when, when accidents like flinging bath water do occur, it’s easy to wipe them up without marring your paint.Home Accessories for Pets

Last but not least, avoid home accessories that are easily damaged. It’s not a good idea to have a collection of heirloom vases on your table, as we all know that cats will jump up onto furnitures the minute you leave for work. If you absolutely must have these types of accessories, weight them down with decorative elements such as pebbles, to help prevent their demise.

No matter what room of the house you’re designing, accent furniture can play an important role. But your basic everyday accent furniture from those big department stores can cost a fortune; even for just a small ottoman or foot stool. Use this guide to finding fashionable accent furniture on the cheap to make the perfect match for your design theme, home accessories and decor.
Recycling the Old Stuff

via
Some of the best items used as accent furniture can be slightly used, retro or antique furniture. From the basic side table to the love seat, recycled furniture’s can be a great way to get cheap chic accent furniture for any room design. But more often than not, surfaces are damaged, paint is flaking and fabric is worn at best. Refurbishing these items can be an easy task when it comes to the amount of energy and time you’re willing to put into the project. Stripping paint, staining wood and seal coating an entire coffee table may take some serious labor hours to complete, but can be well worth the sweat equity for looks and value.
Fabrics can be a tougher item to fix. Reupholstery can be a tough project to complete, especially when you haven’t any sewing machine equipment or skills. Hiring a reupholsterer can provide you with some fashionable reupholstery work on some outdated fabric furniture—but for a price. Saving an old couch might not be worth it if it’s a cheap knockoff of a quality accent furniture. Named brand accent furniture’s can be the ultimate renovation project because it’s easy to find replacement materials and the value is still retained when high dollar accent furniture’s are recycled.
Auctions

via
Whether it’s an online scene or the real deal in a sweaty warehouse, estate auctions and the like can provide you with a huge array of choices for cheap. Accent furniture in these auction scenarios are typically sold in large lots, so be expected to buy a large amount of furniture for one lump sum. These buying practices can help you save big time, but only if you’re willing to go all in.
Sales and other Scams

via
Avoid any blow-out super specials. Avoid all side-of-the-road, under-a-tent big-top furniture sales. These overpriced love seats, ottomans and chase lounges can be made to look like the big brands, but without the high quality work and warranty. Going out of business sales can be a tough sell as new stores buy out old ones all of the time.
Genuine sales that offer no interest for years at a time, half price summer discounts and out of date merchandise can be the best way to get cheap deals on accent furniture from the big warehouse stores.

Your basement doesn’t have to be a smelly and damp place to store your old Christmas supplies. You can transform your holiday décor dungeon into a room you’ll love for years to come. Best of all, it doesn’t have to cost you a pretty penny to get your home décor ideas off of the drawing board and into your basement. Use this guide to get exactly the transformation you’re looking for in your old and tired basement.

Workshop / APD (via)
Sealing the space

DecorPad (via)
Because a basement is so close to the ground, it absorbs radiant energy from the surrounding soil, keeping your basement a constant temperature year-round. It also means that it brings in the surrounding moisture into the area making it a damp and humid place perfect for breeding mold and mildew. Control the moisture by sealing the interior space with a quality paint-on waterproofing agent and sealing the exterior space with foam insulation and a drainage system. This will solve any problems you may have with moisture so that you can get to work installing accent furnitures, painting walls and installing floor coverings.
Wall Coverings

Design Concepts/Interiors, LLC (via)
Once you’re sure your moisture problem has been well taken care of, it’s time to dress up the walls with your favorite color or wall covering. Choosing a wall color is easy: simply pick a color that compliments your floor coverings. Cheap half and half wall designs like wainscoting and chair railing make for an interesting and cheap wall covering design. Wall décor like wall clocks can help fill in the blanks. Choose a unique wall tapestry for the basement entryway to create a space that’s folksy and welcoming. Oval mirrors can create the illusion of more space in any cramped basement space. Wall coverings don’t have to be basic and boring painted walls. With just a little budget and a little elbow grease, you can easily create the perfect budget basement home décor design.
Furniture

A. Rejeanne Interiors (via)
No basement makeover is complete without furniture. But some furniture can be expensive to say the least. Use bargain shopping sites like freecycle to get great deals on an awesome table, a comfy couch and or an eclectic accent chair. Yard sales can make for a great place to find outdated furniture that’s still in practical shape. Simply get a spray paint kit that changes the surface into faux marble, crackled antique or strie glaze for the ultimate in cheap and chic furniture pieces. With the right table decorations, a good used couch and the perfect refurnished end tables, you can have a cheap chic basement design that costs just a few bucks but looks like a million bucks.
