Hi Marcia! The optional lamp shield will help reduce any glare that may be given off from the pendant lights. It could work fabulously over your dining room table, if you would like to soften the light given off by the bulbs. We actually do not have this part listed on our website, and Besa is already closed for the day, so I am unable to get a part number and cost. Hi again Marcia! Thanks so much for your patience! I wanted to let you know that I spoke with Besa, and they advised that the lamp shield is $15.00 a piece, and it would definitely benefit for over a dining room table as will help the dispersing light and help avoid glare if you are looking directly at the bulb!
