Questions and Answers

  • I have selected a number of flush ceiling lamps and am now trying to decide which model should I choose. I do not want an incandescent or halogen bulbs. I actually would like to know what is quad base or a twin base or a G-24, self ballasted base means?

I found a couple of good resources online that explains the quad base and twin base bulbs. When referring to a CFL bulb and you see twin, quad, triple, etc the are speaking of the shape of the bulb. You also sometimes hear of self-ballast CFLS this means that the ballast is part of the bulb base itself and is not something that is built into the fixture. Normally when a CFL bulb is unballasted you know this because they have a "pin-Based" connection. T= Twin Parallel Tubes, Q= Four Tubes in a quad formation, TR= Triple tube, S= Squared shaped, M=A combination of tubes.
